Embracing the changes of motherhood
When a woman becomes a mother, EVERYTHING CHANGES. Many of these changes are positive; as children enrich our lives, teach us how to love unconditionally and are inspirational for finding enormous inner strength. With this tremendous love and opportunity for growth, also come some uncomfortable transitions. Having children can disrupt every aspect of our lives such as; relationships, physical space, time, self confidence, identity, career, passions, appearance, self-care and sanity!

A peaceful mind
By Anilia Hornsby
Our lives are a series of moments. We string them together, then look back and make sense of them. We look forward and try to predict where we are going and what today might mean. As mothers this occurs often. So much of our time is spent thinking of things that are past or have yet to happen. What are we having for breakfast? Did I finish the laundry last night? How am I going to get everyone ready and still have time to iron my shirt? Are lunches packed? What if you decided to change all that and live in the right now, the present?

Influence your children to eat healthy, even when they are away
Have you ever been on a field trip as a chaperone and watched all the kids empty their lunch boxes? You will see the lunch packed by a parent who is an “artiste”: adorable teddy bears sculpted from rice balls or a sandwich cut in a Hello Kitty shape with M&M eyes, and a bow crafted from a strawberry. It’s like Martha Stewart in a lunch box; don’t even try to compete with that.

A Little Retro Food for Thought [Moms]

Food for thought
I was a tried and true picky eater, and spent a lot of time at the dinner table each night. This was the early 1980's when The Cosby Show was never missed, I adopted my first Cabbage Patch Kid and Honey Nut Cheerios were considered "junk cereal" in my house. I'm sure anyone can guess where this is going.

Constipation in Children - What Parents Can Do
"POOP."
Your kids may love saying this word (or shouting it, in my son’s case). However, if they suffer from constipation, they do not love what it means for them–straining to push hard, dry stools that are painful to pass, and not to mention an obstacle for playtime.

Nutty Herbed Kasha
Kasha is a nutty, flavorful whole grain that is especially satisfying in the cooler months. We make a pot of kasha and then enjoy it through the week in various combinations: simple kasha and herbs, mixed with sauted veggies, served with stew. There are thousands of possibilities! Make a pot and see how you and your family like it.
